Setting Students Up for Success: Blueprint’s VET in Schools Impact

Hi, I’m Rachelle Carmody, Schools Partnership Manager at Blueprint Career Development. If you know me, you know I run on coffee, love an adrenaline rush and will never say no to a good cocktail.

But more importantly, I’m all about helping students get real-world skills that actually mean something once they step out of the classroom.

Our VET in Schools (VETiS) programs aren’t just about ticking boxes. They’re about giving high school students the chance to gain nationally recognised qualifications, practical skills and a genuine head start in their careers.

For some students, it’s their first taste of success. For others, it’s the lightbulb moment where they realise, “Hey, I can actually do this!” And let me tell you, there’s nothing better than seeing that confidence grow.

Right now, we’re applying for Queensland Government funding through the Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) framework, which would help us continue delivering quality training to even more students. This funding makes a huge difference. It means eligible students can access training at no cost, giving them the opportunity to build their future without financial barriers. And honestly, who doesn’t love an opportunity like that?

Why Schools and Students Love Our Programs

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all education. Our programs are built for real students, real careers and real success stories. Whether it’s Business, Hospitality, Tourism, Volunteering, Workplace Skills, Sport and Recreation, Self-Awareness and Development, or another pathway, our training is hands-on, engaging and designed to get students job-ready.

Here’s what sets us apart:

✅ Practical, real-world learning – No boring theory marathons here! We focus on industry-relevant, hands-on experience that students can actually use.

✅ Trainers who care – Our trainers are absolute legends. They’re industry pros, incredible mentors and genuinely invested in every student’s success. Sometimes, they’re even the first person to believe in a student’s potential and that’s powerful.

✅ Success stories that speak for themselves – We’ve seen students start out unsure, disengaged, or lacking confidence. Then, after completing our programs, they’re walking away with qualifications, skills, and often, job offers. That’s what it’s all about.

Why This Funding Is So Important

Not every student thrives in a traditional classroom, and that’s where VETiS shines. It gives them a practical, career-focused alternative that helps them find their strengths and build a future. The Queensland Government’s Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) funding makes it possible for more students to access this training without cost being a barrier.

With this funding, we can continue to:

💡 Deliver industry-relevant training that meets real workforce demands.
📚 Support students with expert trainers, engaging learning materials and real-world experience.
🎓 Help more young people graduate job-ready and confident about their future.

Let’s Keep Changing Lives, Together

I’ve been in this space for years, and I’ve seen firsthand how these programs can change lives. Whether a student is heading into further study, an apprenticeship, or straight into work, the skills they gain here open doors they never thought possible.

With this funding, we can help even more students unlock their potential and I couldn’t be more excited about that.

If you’re a school looking for a training partner who actually cares about student success, let’s chat. We’d love to work with you to bring high-quality, engaging training to your students.
