Aligning your school with a Skills Assured funded RTO – Questions to ask.

Like all businesses, RTO’s vary in the services they offer and a little research can go a long way to ensuring your school aligns with an RTO who can meet your schools specific needs. 

 

Questions to ask RTO's VETiS Skills Assure Funded Program

  1. Assessment and Marking Process: Inquire about how the student assessments are conducted and who will be responsible for marking the assessments. Understand whether trainers will mark the student assessments, which can save teachers time and allow them to focus more on their teaching workload.  Blueprint assessors mark all assessments.
  2. Sustainability: Find out how long the RTO has been registered and held funding contracts.  You’ll also be keen to ensure the RTO has a demonstrated capacity to work with the unique challenges of schools, such as timetabling, regular trainer visits and fast access to support.
  3. Industry Professional Development for Teachers: Ask about the opportunities for teachers to participate in industry professional development. Enquire about the types of professional development offered and how it helps teachers refresh their industry currency. Ask Blueprint about the 2-day, 1-night hospitality industry release in a 5-star hotel that includes accommodation, meals, and hands-on work.
  4. Additional Training Opportunities: Find out about training sessions provided throughout the year, such as coffee training and tea ceremony experiences, to help teachers maintain their industry skills and stay up-to-date with industry trends.
  5. Costs for Teachers: Clarify whether there are any costs associated with the partnership for teachers. Understand if the hospitality qualification and/or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be provided.  Speak to Blueprint as this training is included in the agreement.

 

By asking these specific inquiries, schools can gain a better understanding of how an RTOs VETiS-funded program can benefit both students and teachers, with a focus on industry-relevant skills, professional development opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
